Logging
Section titled “Logging”docs.gitlab.com, archives.docs.gitlab.com and new.docs.gitlab.com are served from a dedicated docs.gitlab.com zone in the GitLab Marketing Cloudflare account, owned by the Digital Experience (DEX) team. The gitlab.com zone in our Cloudflare account only holds the NS delegation for docs.gitlab.com. This has been the case since 2026-10-13, see production#23115.
Production Engineering does not have access to the Marketing account. Anything at the edge, such as DNS records, TLS certificates, redirects, cache rules or WAF rules for these hosts, is owned by DEX. Ask in #digital-experience-team or open an issue in the docs-gitlab-com project.
The origin is still GitLab Pages, see the web-pages runbook. Pages incidents can therefore still affect docs.gitlab.com, and that part remains with Production Engineering.
Blackbox probes for docs.gitlab.com run from the ops environment. The alerts DocsGitlabComProbeFailures, DocsGitlabComCertExpiresSoon and DocsGitlabComCertExpiresVerySoon in blackbox_alerts.yml route to team: digital_experience, which lands them in #dex-alerts. They do not page the EOC.
- Docs hosting migration epic, the DEX-owned move of docs.gitlab.com to their own Cloudflare account and, later, off GitLab Pages.
